On Tuesday, May 9th, Flywheel collaborated with the Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council and Oxfam to host an interactive panel discussion about social enterprise in Thailand and the U.S. Our international entrepreneur in residence, New Atthaphong, spoke about her work with Oxfam and social entrepreneurship overseas. New supports Fisherfolk Community Enterprise, which aims to facilitate fairness of pay to small-scale fishermen, improve consumer safety in the Thai fish market, and promote environmentally-friendly fishing practices. The organization is piloting market-based solutions to poverty and inequality, and New is visiting Cincinnati to gain insights on how to create a viable and sustainable business model for social enterprise.
